About Us
Hello and welcome to
Sunny The Cat & Co
Sunny is an adorable, energetic orange-white cat who inspired our family to care for animals, volunteer, rescue, and adopt other cats. Reading the blog, you will learn about our exciting experiences and explore what it’s like to live with four-legged friends. From our stories, you will discover our journey and will often laugh about the funny cat escapades. You will witness true companionship and learn what it takes to say goodbye to a friend when there is no hope.
We’ve had the myriads of exciting adventures together, and we invite you to read and follow our story. In our blog, you will read about the latest evolving stories of Sunny and his friends’ life.
Sunny
We found a few days old tiny kitten in the bushes outside of our apartment complex in spring 2015. His eyes were still closed; the kitten was not moving and was barely breathing. We rushed the little one to the vet; the doctor said that our kitty is a boy, and he’s severely dehydrated and cold.
The kitten was bright orange and white, and we named the boy Sunshine, Sunny, for short. The vet tech connected us with a community volunteer who nurses young kittens; however, we were told that Sunny’s chances to survive were uncertain.
Fortunately, with the help of the amazing volunteer, the boy thrived and beat all the odds against him. The little rascal brought a lot of joy, comfort, and fun to our lives and helped us to become a real cat family.
Marley
Marley is a big, loving orange tabby cat who came to our family during the Sonoma County devastating wildfires in October 2017. We brought him home from SNAP cats, to help with the evacuation. We had our cat Sunny and decided to keep the boys in the separate rooms, so they can get used to each other. The cats were often observed sniffing and exchanging paw swipes under the door between the rooms.
Soon, Marley and Sunny became best of friends. We didn’t realize how lonely our Sunny was and how much he needed the companionship that Sunny and Marley both found in each other’s presence. We hesitated to return Marley back to the rescue and kept coming up with excuses to keep him longer. Finally, Marley was officially adopted to his new loving forever home.
Joey
Joey is a gentle senior cat that was rescued by SNAP cats a couple of years ago from the streets of San Francisco. When he was initially brought to the shelter, Joey’s beautiful brown coat was severely matted, and his body had many puncture wounds. The injured, malnourished cat urgently needed help; he was treated and nursed back to health by the animal rescue team.
Joey came to our family in April 2021, and so far, we haven’t heard him complaining. Joey enjoys spending time on the desk in my office and looking out of his favorite window. Our boy likes to talk and loves to play with his toys. Joey’s favorite activities are to roll on his back from side-to-side and catch toys attached to a string.
Irina
Irina is a dedicated cat mom for Sunny, Marley and Joey, a writer and creator of the blog stories. As a kid, Irina used to bring stray dogs and cats home. Even though the negotiation was often tough, as a teenager, Irina managed to convince her grandparents to accept the furry family members.
As an adult, Irina and her family enjoyed a company of everyone’s beloved dog Max. A few years ago, after Max’s tragic passing, Irina was still suffering a loss, when her little daughter found a helpless tiny kitten. The new friend was named Sunny and was welcomed to his new loving home.
When Sunny and later other cats entered our lives, our family has become happier and stronger than ever. Today, we want to share our story, bring awareness about the struggles that the homeless animals face and inspire people to adopt and share their loving homes with the friends in need.
