A Tribute and Blessing for a Gentle Soul
It took me some time to publish this post. To my dear friend, cat Sasha.
There are beings who move through the world in silence, without noise or hype, whose presence doesn’t call attention but softly steadies the room.
My dear Sasha, the cat was one of the fiends. A gentle tortoiseshell cat with a tremble in her steps and a silent strength of her spirit that you could sense right away.
She came to the place I used to work for, carrying stories we’ll never fully know, stories written in the way she sat quietly apart, in the softness of her fur, in the sheer determination of her unsteady gait.
Sahsa’s body was small, her movements uncertain, but her will to live pulsed quietly through the days. She stayed through sickness and discomfort, and she healed. Through the passing of time, her quiet light remained flickering but never extinguished.
She got along with others without fuss, conflict, or drama. Just her steady presence. Sometimes you could see Sasha with others, but often alone. She was never truly unnoticed.
Recently, I learned that my dear friend, the beautiful Sahsa, has passed away.
Her body, once full of silent resilience, rests in stillness.
Her dear spirit, her soft, luminous spirit, has slipped beyond the veil, where legs do not wobble, and there is no pain.
I grieve not knowing how she passed, and not being able to say goodbye.
But I speak to her now, with the thing that still connects us, love.
A Blessing for Sasha
May your path now be steady,
your paws sure and strong.
May soft grasses meet you,
and a sky of quiet belonging stretch above.
May you be greeted by gentle ancestors,
feline and human who know your name,
even if the world never did.
May you feel the warmth
of every moment you were seen,
every glance of kindness,
Every whisper of love sent your way.
May your quiet strength shine brighter now,
unbound by body, untethered by time.
You mattered, sweet Sasha.
You were never invisible.
You are not forgotten.
You are free now,
and deeply, eternally loved.
