Joey is a gentle senior brown tabby cat; his beautiful fluffy coat has majestic golden marks on the sides. In the past, Joey lived on the streets of San Francisco. Was he always a stray, or he had a caring family in his life? Maybe his elderly owner passed away, or perhaps Joey was a “birthday gift” for a kid that soon was bored with the new toy? Maybe, the owner moved out to search for a new life; anyhow, the lonely cat was no longer needed and was left on the streets to die.
Joey’s story would probably remind uncharted if one day in May 2019, someone didn’t bring the struggling cat to the Animal Care and Control department of San Francisco in poor health. Joey’s coat was severely matted and covered with mud, and his body had multiple puncture wounds. Additionally, Joey suffered from skin disease, was dehydrated and malnourished. The veterinarians approximated that Joey was about 13 years of age at the time. Regardless of the rough past, the boy surprised the rescuers with his friendly and affectionate demeanor.
When Joey’s health improved, Animal Services reached out to the community. A couple of months later, Joey arrived to SNAP cats hoping to find a loving, steady home in his golden years. Volunteers and staff welcomed the new boy. At SNAP Cats Joey found much-needed loving care. His wounds were healing well, and the lonely senior started thriving. The gentle brown tabby stole everybody’s heart and quickly became a part of the feline family.
One day, a lady came to see Joey; she watched him on the camera online, liked his gentle demeanor, and decided to adopt him. It was a bitter-sweet feeling to know that finally, Joey is going to his long-deserved forever home. When the person walked into the room, she saw another cat and fell in love with a young, boisterous, energetic snow-white kitty who was recovering after surgery. Finally, Joey’s potential adopter walked out with the two other younger cats, who she believed will be good playmates.
